Runtimes getdataback is most professional softwares available in the market. My genuine suggestion to them is to increase price to US$ 500 for the bundle as competitors are offering less featured product in that range

If anyone has VSS problems and finds that the FAQ tips don't help, this tip may. If you've ever installed Microsoft Visio and have since uninstalled it, a leftover registry key may be your problem. I found the solution here - http://forum.storagecraft.com/Community/forums/p/266/991.aspx

To cut a long story short, you might want to look in the registry under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\ContentIndex\Catalogs and check if you have for example deinstalled Visio lately. If there is a visio key, delete it and VSS will turn back into workable condition.

Sure enough this worked for me, so if you're having VSS problems and have uninstalled Visio, give it a try.

Always use a system with plenty of RAM and turn off restore points and prefetch /swap files .
If the program appears to hang (often a drive I/O problem) try going into task manager and increasing the priority of the runtime program (e.g GDB.exe) you are using >closing task manger>then opening task manger again and resetting the priority to the previous setting.

You may need to adjust the wait times before turning the priority back down depending on the condition of the drive .

This can get past hangs in drive access ..... has worked for me

i am a 63 year old person, who 4 years ago, knew not how to switch a computer on.
Out of curiosity i took the plunge, and started to learn basic html etc..
With the help of a few books i was soon doing my own upgrades and generally tinkering, i found runtime after i encountered a problem with a corrupted hd, on which all my docs pics and music were to be found.
After a couple of weeks trawling the boards and trying some other recovery services that i could not work, i found getdataback
THANK YOU
you make me feel smart for having found you ...grin

I'd also written up a piece on how to automate image creation using DriveImage XML, you can view it at:

http://frozenpixels.wordpress.com/backups-part-1/

One addition I'd like to see though, is the ability to backup/restore the MBR.

It is an excellent program though.
